Overall, the results of these studies indicate that alternations in muscle afferent nerves’ TRPA1 likely contribute to the enhanced sympathetic and BP responses via the metabolic component of the muscle reflex under circumstances of chronic muscle ischemia in PAD, and the effects of oxidative stress are also likely associated with expression and activities of TRPA1 in sensory nerves of PAD. Here, TRPA1 is linked to peripheral arterial disease.
