In fact, the KIT/PDGFRA WT GIST classification gathers entities as different as proto-oncogene B-Raf (BRAF)-, neurofibromatosis type-1(NF1)-mutated, fibroblast growth factor receptor 1 (FGFR1)-, Neurotrophic Receptor Tyrosine Kinase (NTRK)-rearranged and succinate dehydrogenase (SDH)-deficient GISTs, as well as a number of KIT/PDGFRA WT GISTs for which no targetable oncogenic driver has been detected yet [1,11,12]. This evidence concerns the gene PDGFRA and gastrointestinal stromal tumor.
