The anti–tumor necrosis factor (TNF), monoclonal antibodies infliximab (IFX), adalimumab (ADA), and golimumab (GOL) have greatly improved the management of both patients with ulcerative colitis (UC) and Crohn’s disease (CD); furthermore, other therapeutical options are currently available, such as vedolizumab (VDZ), that is an anti-integrin monoclonal antibody able to prevent specific T lymphocytes from endothelial adherence and migration in the bowel mucosa [2]. This evidence concerns the gene TNF and ulcerative colitis.
