Aligning with our observation of a positive association of C14:0 and triglycerides, increasing concentrations of C14:0 have been linked to progressive increases in triglycerides and ApoCIII concentrations, a hallmark of inflammatory potential of low-density lipoproteins [36], independently of coronary artery disease (CAD) diagnosis and gender in plasma samples from 1370 subjects with or without angiographically demonstrated CAD [37].
