We hypothesized that inhibiting SIRT1/2 by Tenovin-1 reduces the blood glucose levels, and reducing high-fat-diet-induced renal interstitial fibroblast activation and renal fibrosis by suppressing the phosphorylation of growth factor receptors, EGFR, and PDGFR, and the consequent inactivation of the STAT3 signaling inhibits the expression of inflammatory mediators and oxidative stress markers. The gene discussed is SIRT1; the disease is renal fibrosis.
