It is worth noting that in many respects such a fundamental loss of control of redox, PPP activation, DNA damage response, and cell cycle, Nrf2 deficiency mirrors loss of the autosomal recessive ataxia telangiectasia gene (ATM) that makes patients and mice cancer prone, radiosensitive, and display a variety of inflammatory manifestations [71,72,73,74,75]. The gene discussed is ATM; the disease is cancer.
