Although mutations in components of the phosphoinositide-3-kinase/AKT/mammalian target of rapamycin (Pi3K-AKT-mTOR) signaling pathway are rare and mostly observed in non-aggressive meningioma [5], we have demonstrated that targeting this pathway may be relevant in aggressive meningioma, supporting the clinical use of the mTOR inhibitor, everolimus [6,7,8,9].
