Interestingly, dectin-1 gene expression levels were positively associated with that of some closely related CC motif chemokines and their receptors mediating obesity-induced chronic inflammation, such as CCL3, CCL8, and CCL20, markers for macrophages and lymphocytes, as well as CCL2 and CCL7, which are well-defined monocyte chemoattractants. This evidence concerns the gene CCL8 and obesity due to melanocortin 4 receptor deficiency.
