A negative regulation of IL-6 and IL-1 production by progestins, which has been confirmed in many studies, as mentioned above, suggests the possibility of their usage in anti-COVID-19 therapy, since the monoclonal antibodies targeting these interleukins (anakinra and tocilizumab, respectively) represent the first-stage target therapy of COVID-19 [92]. This evidence concerns the gene IL1B and COVID-19.
