Since it has been shown that blocking galectin-4 in colorectal cancer cells induced the release of IL-6 and other cytokines, including CXCL1, CCL2, CCL5, and CXCL10 [100], it is tempting to speculate that these cytokines are responsible for the effects of galectin-4 on immune cells. This evidence concerns the gene LGALS4 and colorectal cancer.
