In solid tumors, such as breast cancer, lung cancer, glioma, and hepatocellular carcinoma, hypoxia and glucose depletion promote lipoprotein lipase (LPL) in tumor and stromal cells, which is important to release free fatty acids (FFAs) from extracellular triglycerides carried in low-density lipoproteins (LDL). Here, LPL is linked to hepatocellular carcinoma.
