The wild-type BRAF melanomas have oncogenic mutations in upstream components of the MAPK pathway, such as NRAS (neuroblastoma RAS viral oncogene homolog), KIT (v-Kit Hardy–Zuckerman 4 feline sarcoma viral oncogene homolog), GNAQ (guanine nucleotide-binding protein, q polypeptide) and GNA11 (guanine nucleotide-binding protein, a11) [19].
