Gliomas are identified more and more by molecular pathology according to The 2021 WHO Classification of Tumors of the Central Nervous System, including isocitrate dehydrogenase1/2 (IDH1/2), 1p/19q-codeleted, phosphatase and tensin homolog (PTEN) alterations, telomerase reverse transcriptase promoter gene mutations, EGFR amplification and mutation, and TP53 (which encodes the p53 tumor suppressor protein) mutation [3,4]. This evidence concerns the gene PTEN and central nervous system cancer.
