RORC and Chronic mucocutaneous candidosis: Mutations in genes encoding the IL-17 receptor or Act1, or genes important for Th17 differentiation such as RAR related orphan receptor C (RORC, encoding the transcription factor RORγt), all predispose to chronic mucocutaneous candidiasis in mice and humans, demonstrating that the mouse is a fairly faithful model of events that promote immunity to this fungus (reviewed in refs. 16, 17).
