We chose to study the effect of buspirone, a 5-HT1A receptor agonist, as it has been proved to exert anxiolytic and antidyskinetic effects in parkinsonian animals and PD patients (Dekundy et al., 2007; Eskow et al., 2007; Aristieta et al., 2012; Politis et al., 2014) and anxiolytic properties in PD (Schneider et al., 2021). Here, HTR1A is linked to Parkinson disease.
