Elevated GFAT1 has been associated with poor overall survival in patients suffering hepatocellular carcinoma (Li et al., 2017) and, strikingly, GFAT inhibitors like the diazoderivative of serine, azaserine, and 6‐diazo‐5‐oxo‐L‐norleucine (DON) decrease HBP flux and exhibit anti‐tumor activity (Lemberg et al., 2018).
