Tingting L et al showed that SOX9, a transcription factor, could bind to the COL10A1 promoter, and was essential for COL10A1-mediated EMT, and cell migration, invasion and metastasis.[30] However, Sun et al showed that SOX9 downregulation by promoter methylation is related to GC progression, advanced tumor stage, vessel infiltration, and nodal metastasis, but not related to prognosis.[31] To our knowledge, this meta-analysis is the first to evaluate the prognostic and clinical value of SOX9 in GC. This evidence concerns the gene COL10A1 and gastric cancer.
