GBA1 and hepatocellular carcinoma: The microarray data in Fig. 1a show that the level of GBA mRNA was significantly higher in human HCC tissues than in noncancerous liver tissues (cancerous vs. noncancerous, 7.54 ± 1.10 vs. 5.73 ± 1.02, P = 0.03), and this result was validated by real-time quantitative PCR using our clinical cohorts (cancerous vs. noncancerous, 0.07 ± 0.07 vs. 0.01 ± 0.01, P < 0.001; Fig. 1b).
