In contrast, several reports indicate 5-aza treatment as a known senescence-inducing stimulus for cancer cells, through activation of p53 pathway or regulation of telomerase activity (Grandjenette et al., 2014; Putri et al., 2017), thus suggesting its use in cancer therapy for acute myelogenous leukemia or solid tumors (Christman, 2002).
