Sato et al. investigated three different types of thyroid carcinomas (51 papillary, 10 follicular, and 31 undifferentiated carcinomas) and found significant increase in dysadherin protein level in undifferentiated carcinoma compared to papillary and follicular carcinomas and no staining in normal thyroid follicular epithelial cells. This evidence concerns the gene FXYD5 and thyroid gland carcinoma.
