Some revealed differentially expressed ferroptosis-related genes in AD can affect mostly neurons, contributing to tau phosphorylation and Aβ accumulation, such as acyl-CoA synthetase long-chain family member (ACSL4) and GPX4, which were tightly related to lipid peroxidation of ferroptosis (Ashraf et al., 2020; Kim et al., 2021). This evidence concerns the gene MAPT and Alzheimer disease.
