Although atrophy and cortical thinning has been described in the rest of the temporal lobe in AD, these changes are generally less symmetrized (Galton et al., 2001; Domoto-Reilly et al., 2012; Schwab et al., 2020); though interestingly, it has been demonstrated that TDP-43 pathology, one of the pathological inclusions in AD, appears at a very early stage in the anterior temporal pole in AD (Nag et al., 2018).
