STING1 and neoplasm: The STING-dependent type I interferon response plays a role in T-cell tumour recruitment fundamental to elicit the immune adaptive tumour surveillance, as STING activation could mediate the tumour response to the checkpoint inhibitors as shown by the reduced efficacy of the anti-CTLA4 and anti-PDL-1 treatment in STING-deficient mice [99, 101, 102].
