Studies showed that inflammation in RCT contributes to fatty infiltration (Nelson et al., 2021), which is associated with poor surgical outcomes and postoperative failure of rotator cuff repair (Shen et al., 2008; Wieser et al., 2019), but the roles of hsa_circ_0000722 and their ceRNA interactions (hsa_circ_0000722-hsa-miR-129-5p-GPD2/hsa_circ_0000722-hsa-miR-30c-5p-NCOA3) in rotator cuff tears remain to be elucidated. The gene discussed is GPD2; the disease is rotator cuff syndrome.
