IL10 and inflammatory bowel disease: We showed that the lack of IL-10 in hamsters caused an overt reduction in body weight and reduction in WAT mass, similar to that reported in mice (28); however, unlike IL-10 knockout (KO) mice with only mild inflammation, IL-10 mutant hamsters displayed severe systemic inflammation and swelling, suggesting that hamsters were predisposed to active IBD caused by IL-10 deficiency.
