LPP and Sepsis: While a clinical trial using mAbs to LPS alone did not significantly protect against the lethality of E. coli (E. coli) sepsis, an antisera therapy containing antibodies to several outer membrane proteins, later identified as OmpA, Lpp (Braun’s lipoprotein), and peptidoglycan-associated lipoprotein (Pal), did yield significantly protective results in sepsis patients compared to placebo (54, 55, 56, 57, 58, 59, 60, 61, 62).
