The high-fat and high-sugar (HFHS) diet is thus widely used because it can not only simulate the unhealthy dietary mode of humans [6] and induce the apparent symptoms of hyperglycemia and hyperinsulinemia in rats but also cause obesity, reduce the sensitivity of insulin target organs to insulin, thereby inducing insulin resistance (IR) and other pathological changes similar to human GDM [7, 8]. The gene discussed is INS; the disease is obesity due to melanocortin 4 receptor deficiency.
