Acyl-CoA oxidase 1 (ACOX1), a key rate-limiting enzyme in FAO, is overexpressed in malignant lymphomas and confers resistance to the anthracycline antibiotic doxorubicin, mainly by reducing doxorubicin-induced activation of caspase-9 and caspase-3 and reduction of mitochondrial membrane potential. Here, ACOX1 is linked to lymphoma.
