The mapped genes (FTO, SLC38A11, and RNA5SP111) of the identified PCOS SNPs in our study were also associated with obesity-related traits, including WHR, WHR adjusting for BMI, and childhood BMI (CBMI), suggesting the shared genetic architecture of PCOS, T2D, and obesity (Liu et al., 2022). This evidence concerns the gene SLC38A11 and polycystic ovary syndrome.
