GJA1 and disease of the tendon: Briefly, a study conducted with nine Spanish rink-hockey players with tendinopathy and five controls (rink-hockey players without tendinopathy) found that carrying one or more alleles A in Gap Junction Alpha 1 (GJA1) rs11154027 (OR = 2.11; 95% CI, 1.07–4.19, p = 1.01 × 10−6) or G allele in Vesicle Amine Transport 1-Like (VAT1L) rs4362400 (OR = 1.98; 95% CI, 1.05–3.73, p = 9.6 × 10−6) was associated with a higher risk of tendinopathy [18].
