Consistent with these findings, the results of Western blot analyses performed in the present study indicate that LPS promotes the expression of p-ERK and p-NF-κB, and that the administration of corilagin effectively alleviates this phosphorylation, thereby reducing the expression of ERK and NF-κB. These observations provide convincing evidence that corilagin can protect against LPS-induced ALI by suppressing ERK/NF-κB-mediated inflammatory pathways. Here, NFKB1 is linked to acute respiratory distress syndrome.
