Overexpression of TRIM24 is connected to tumor progressionand poor prognosis in breast cancer,23 andsignificant upregulation has been observed in cancers including gastriccancer,24 non-small-cell lung cancer,25 leukemia,26 prostatecancer,27 and hepatocellular carcinoma.28 Knockdown of TRIM24 in colon cancer cell linessuppressed tumor growth and induced apoptosis.29 Despite mouse models indicating that TRIM24 can act asa liver-specific tumor suppressor,30 moststudies show that TRIM24 is an oncogene when overexpressed. This evidence concerns the gene TRIM24 and hepatocellular carcinoma.
