Recently, there have been major effortsto understand the disease on the molecular level and to develop noveldrugs,52 including targeted therapies suchas tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs).53 To date, 89 drugs targeting protein kinases have been clinicallyapproved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA, April 2021), whileat least 150 are being investigated in clinical trials.54 Development of new high-throughput phenotypicdrug screening approaches is important for the identification of noveldrugs for the treatment of inflammation in autoimmune diseases andcancer. Here, WEE1 is linked to autoimmune disease.
