The protein reelin has been shown to be important for proper lamination of dentate granule cell layer (GCL) (Gong et al., 2007; Duveau et al., 2010) while changes in reelin expression have been implicated in epilepsy (Dazzo et al., 2015) and neuropsychiatric disorders (Folsom and Fatemi, 2013).
