Studies performed in melanoma tumor cell lines and fibroblasts show that antioxidant treatments or overexpression of antioxidant enzymes increase the binding of RA receptors (RARa/RARβ) to RARE (Retinoic Acid Response Elements) and the application of exogenous H2O2 stabilizes RA signaling by decreasing the affinity of its receptors to RARE (Demary et al., 2001; Park et al., 2009). This evidence concerns the gene RARB and melanoma.
