In contrast, the protein expression levels of the transcription factor HOXA9, which is important for leukemic transformation and consequently often upregulated in AML [25], did respond alike after AzaC and AzadC treatment and were even increased at treatment with 1.0 μM of either compound (Fig. 1g, Additional file 1: Fig. S1g).
