Our study confirms the results of the assessment of hs-cTnI using the Architect assay in a subset of 1'704 T2DM patients from the Atherosclerosis Risk in Communities (ARIC) study, which showed that hs-cTnI was independently associated with and significantly improved model discrimination for all-cause and cardiovascular mortality risk [51]. Here, TNNI3 is linked to type 2 diabetes mellitus.
