In addition, the study analyzed the expression of the following: (1) MR in the skin tissue; (2) HSD11β2, which determines the selectivity of MR for ALDO; (3) vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), which is known as a proinflammatory factor responsible for increasing vascular permeability; (4) von Willebrand factor (vWF), which is an endothelial dysfunction marker and inflammatory mediator and can increase vascular permeability by the destabilization of tight junctions; and (5) zonula occludens 1 (ZO-1), a peripheral membrane protein responsible for vascular integrity [13,22,23,24]. This evidence concerns the gene VWF and endothelial dysfunction.
