Another study investigating the results of a metabolome and transcriptome-wide association study to identify genes influencing the human metabolome, found that this integration can support the causal role of ALMS1 (Alstrom syndrome 1) gene expression levels on N-acetylated compound concentration, whereas for HPS1 (Hermansky-Pudlak syndrome), a negative feedback loop between its expression levels and TMA (Trimethylamine) using an untargeted approach in nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy (NMR) and methylation quantitative trait loci (mQTLs) analysis. Here, ALMS1 is linked to Hermansky-Pudlak syndrome.
