Our study found a strong negative correlation between D value and α-SMA score (p = 0.000), which indicates that the degree of molecular diffusion is closely related to the degree of cancer-associated fibroblasts activation of the tumor microenvironment, implying that the denser neocollagenous fibers, the more restricted the diffusion of water molecules, leading to lower D values [13,37]. This evidence concerns the gene ACTA1 and cancer.
