OSM and cancer: OSM, which shares high structural, functional, and genetic homology with LIF [29,30], is a unique cytokine, which critically contributes to physiological and pathological processes, including extracellular matrix remodeling, hematopoiesis, differentiation, inflammatory response, proliferation, acquisition of cancer stem cell (CSC) markers, drug resistance, and achievement of metastatic phenotype [29,30,31].
