Indeed, a higher Ki-67 expression (a marker of cell proliferation) was observed in U87 compared with Glio6 and Glio96, although not statistically significant, and an AQP4 overexpression (a marker of glioma invasion) was observed in Glio6 and Glio96 compared with U87 (p = 0.06 and p < 0.01, respectively), a finding that corresponds to the phenotypes of these three glioma models obtained with cells implanted in the leg muscle (U87 as proliferation and Glio6 and Glio96 as invasion models). Here, MKI67 is linked to central nervous system cancer.
