MAPT and Alzheimer disease: AD pathology investigation has been widely focused on Aβ theory, however, there are still no successful therapies to treat AD by targeting Aβ and recently the theory was challenged since some inconsistencies were found in the research of Aβ*56 isoform [20]; therefore, the role of Aβ*56 in AD should be carefully considered and other strategies such as targeting Tau or microglia activity need to be addressed as therapeutic alternatives to Aβ targeting [21].
