Basal-like breast cancers can be subdivided into basal A and B classes, based on epithelial (basal A) or more mesenchymal characteristics (basal B) including differences in expression of cell adhesion receptors such as E-cadherin and claudins and most basal-like breast cancers are triple negative breast cancer (TNBC): they lack estrogen receptor and progesterone receptor and do not overexpress HER2. Here, CDH1 is linked to breast cancer.
