Specifically, microglia and astrocytic subpopulations were enriched by inflammatory genes and deregulated neuroprotective ones that had been previously linked to PD and other human neurodegenerative diseases, such as the glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP), the interferon-induced transmembrane protein-3 (IFITM3), and others [149,150].
