EMI was more common in patients with monocytic and myelomonocytic AML subtypes, and blasts were characterized by a lack of CD117 on immunophenotyping; molecularly, MLL gene (mixed-lineage leukemia gene) rearrangement was most commonly diagnosed, and cytogenetically, trisomy of chromosome 8 was most commonly detected.
