It has been shown that glomerular expression of Sirtuin-1 (SIRT1), an NAD+-dependent protein/histone deacetylase, is reduced in human diabetic glomeruli (75), the expression and acetylation of HDAC6 is regulated by Sirt1 (76), so expression of HDAC6 exhibit down-regulated and activity of tubulin deacetylation was inhibited, so we speculated that glomerular hyperfiltration induced the key cilia disassembly regulator HDAC6 down-regulation, promoting cilium elongation and accelerates the progression of diabetic kidney disease. Here, SIRT1 is linked to diabetic kidney disease.
