MTOR and cancer: A study demonstrated that mTOR signaling is closely connected with the polarization of TAMs from anti-tumoral M1Ф to pro-tumoral M2Ф, anti-tumoral M1Ф regulates aerobic glycolysis in cancer cells leading to reduced proliferation and decreased production of lactate, and lactate was the potent immunosuppressor and angiogenesis stimulator in the tumor microenvironment (Chen et al., 2020a).
