AQP3 and psoriasis: Compared to control subjects, patients with psoriasis had decreased skin hydration (73.2 ± 10.5 vs. 92.9 ± 10.0, p < 0.001) and increased TEWL (13.5 ± 4.4 vs. 9.75 ± 1.1 g/h/m2, p< 0.002). Other research has implicated AQP3 and phospholipase D2 abnormalities in hyperproliferation in psoriasis and nonmelanoma skin cancers [25].
