CRP and neoplasm: These systemic inflammatory response (SIR) markers, such as the absolute lymphocyte and neutrophil count, C-reactive protein (CRP), neutrophil–lymphocyte ratio (NLR), lymphocyte–monocyte ratio (LMR), platelet–lymphocyte ratio (PLR), are routinely assessed in clinical settings prior to treatment and are associated with patients’ outcome in many malignancies, independently of tumor stage (Roxburgh and McMillan 2014; Dolan et al. 2017).
